Our clients, a British couple, were seeking a mortgage to purchase a new build property in Chatel. They were looking for the best rate possible and were willing to deposit up to 30% of the purchase price.

However the bank generally requires a visit in France to open the bank account and meet the client ‘’face to face’’ for their compliance. With the Covid-19, it was a bit more difficult to organise the trip. We discussed the conditions and the bank agreed with their Compliance and Risk Committee to sign the documents directly in the UK as long as they were certified and apostilled by a UK notary. Fortunately we have a great contact and they managed to get everything authenticated very quickly at low cost.
