France moves further up world tourism competitiveness rating

The tour de force of French tourism continues. In the latest biennial rankings from the World Economic Forum (WEF) France has jumped five places, up from seventh to second on the ‘tourism competitiveness rating’.

The report looked at 141 countries and analysed them against a set of 14 different criteria. In the end Spain came out top, with Germany in third place and the US and UK in fourth and 5th.

“With its combination of rich history and attractions, ski resorts and coastlines, France ranks high in cultural (second) and natural (eighth) resources,” the WEF commented.
“Its emphasis on environmental sustainability (23rd), strongly enforced environmental regulation (29th) and a sustainable approach to developing the T&T industry (48th).”
